Activities

L’Arbre à Chapeaux is both close to the town of Morteau (five kilometres away) and nestled in nature.
Once the winter snow arrives, open-air activities are just a short journey away, including skiing and tobogganing at the nearby La Bonade piste (five minutes away by car), and those of Meix-Musy (20 minutes by car), Gardot and the Grande Traversée du Jura (GTJ).

The house is also close to the centre of the village of Grand’Combe-Châteleu and its famous farm museum (a few minutes’ walk away). There, visitors can explore a traditional farm and a bygone way of living in the region.
Morteau and Villers-le-Lac were once part of a watchmaking heartland, and two museums are dedicated to the craft, in which every family was involved.
In Pontarlier, around 30 km away, adults can savour the famous “green fairy”, while little ones will be enthralled by the stills at the Guy and Fils d’Emile Pernot distilleries, recognised as Living Heritage Companies.
Slightly further afield, and on both sides of the border, there are a number of UNESCO World Heritage Sites. These include the Citadel of Besançon, featuring Vauban’s masterpiece (around 60 km away), and, on the Swiss side, the watchmaking town of La Chaux-de-Fonds (around 30 km away).
There’s a wide and varied range of ideas for outings that will please visitors of all ages, from nature lovers to history buffs!
