OUR HISTORY

L’ARBRE...A CHAPEAUX ?

L'Arbre à chapeaux is both an end and a beginning, a meeting point at the crossroads of many paths.

It is the presentation to the world of a story that has been close to our hearts for more than fifteen years and a passionate desire to bring to life a place steeped in three centuries of history.

L'Arbre à chapeaux is a melting pot of passions, talents, know-how and genuine commitment.

It is the metamorphosis of ideas gleaned from the paths of the world into a naive desire: to rediscover the pleasure of evening gatherings and exchanges between people of all ages and backgrounds around rich and varied themes.

L'Arbre à chapeaux is Africa's palaver tree, where the wisdom of the elders is drawn from the roots and sharing is sheltered in the shade of the foliage.

L'Arbre à chapeaux is a sturdy branch on which to hang your cap so you can breathe more easily.

L'Arbre à chapeaux is Maxime Leforestier's ‘blue house’... you come here on foot with your joys, your sorrows and, above all, the desire to be with others. Quite simply.

Much more than a project, it is a state of mind, a way of life that drives us. When we decided to renovate our farm and create a space to share and guest rooms, we knew that this place would resemble our memories and our dearest dreams.

At l'Arbre à chapeaux, each item has its own story. The objects scattered here and there are often the result of chance encounters, always reminders of authentic moments shared with friends on trails around the world...

This Comtois farmhouse has already celebrated more than 335 birthdays! And its foundations undoubtedly predate the revocation of the Edict of Nantes! Generations have come before us, and we hope that generations will come after us. That is why we chose to restore the house: in accordance with best practices and using high-quality, noble materials that will guarantee its longevity.

We have chosen to combine authenticity and modernity. The tuyé has been restored and has resumed its rightful place at the heart of the house, as in days gone by. The rooms have been renovated while preserving as much of the original features as possible (stone slabs and walls, traditional lime plaster, etc.).
All this work has been carried out in accordance with tradition by talented and passionate craftsmen. All this work has been carried out in accordance with tradition by talented and passionate craftsmen.

The work has been carried out with technical and aesthetic considerations in mind, seeking comfort and ensuring compliance with the 2015 accessibility and safety standards. The 17th century revisited!
